Natalie Hunsaker

Tell us about your family: parents? siblings? spouse? kids? grandkids?:
I’m married to Matt Hunsaker, and we have three kids: Brynn, Heidi, and Paul. Much to our surprise, we felt we needed to have a caboose baby. I think I would have preferred God just giving us a surprise pregnancy rather than giving me the option to CHOOSE to follow the prompting or not (!). As it is, we chose to trust God and add our caboose. I’m sure Baby Boy will be a perfect addition to our family.

What do you/your spouse do for a living?
My husband is an engineer for his day job and is a partial-owner of a growing business on the side. I’m an artist (oil painter, to be exact).

What brought you to the area?
We’ve lived all over and have a special place in our hearts for Kansas since we lived there twice. Ultimately, we came back to Utah for two reasons: (1) It felt right; and (2) our extended families are from Highland and Alpine.

I recommend everyone try _____________ at least once because:
Watch a whippet or a greyhound run. It’s like a dose of awe for God’s creations when you see the speed and athleticism of His creations. It gives me a little boost every morning.

What activities inspire you or give you peace?
Listening to anything from the gospel library, podcasts by the Zion Art Society (for LDS artists), or streaming audios by Marlene Peterson in her Libraries of Hope (a really cool collection of pre-1920s heart-filled stories). I also love to read books from the literature’s classics and historical non-fiction.\

What advice would you give to your younger self?
The atonement makes up for mistakes, too, not just overt sins. Trust His grace to make up for wherever you feel you lack so that you can focus on others instead of your own shortcomings.

Do you feel like you’ve found your “purpose” in life? If so, what is it?
I have many purposes, and they are in this order: (1) I am a daughter of God (2) I am a wife (3) I am a mother (4) I am an artist and teacher who uses oil painting as a tool to share my testimony with the world.

How would you like people to remember you?
As a woman who is deep-thinking, genuine, inspiring; who accepts and loves everyone she meets.
